PhD in Physics in GEMaC lab at University of Versailles, France

Phd Courses Lab GEMaC-famous Versailles in this field, especially in the study of "Diamond", "ZnO" and "Magnetic oxide" in the thin film.
Common point for all semiconductors is that they are large band gap materials (optical band gap> 2.5eV), with intrinsic and / or extrinsic defects are very local level.
This Phd Courses thesis will comprise the first experimental in the conception and realization of new concept experiment, called "4-coefficient in high magnetic fields." This characterization will provide the possibility (thanks to the special geometry of the electrical contacts) to measure for the same sample four electrical transport coefficients: resistivity, Hall constant, Seebeck coefficient and Nernst coefficient. All measurements will be made to thin layers and ultra-thin in a high magnetic field (± 9T). It measured 4 coefficient would allow us to characterize the electronic band structure in the center-Brillouin zone (Fermi energy, the effective mass, scattering parameters). We Phd Courses will study different materials and the like in GEMaC (doped ZnO and diamond and Fe 2-d-xTixO3 or magnetic oxide LaNiO3-δ), presents the localization service charge ', although it is of a different nature. http://www.callforpapersinfo.com
http://thescholarshipprogramme.com One part of this thesis will concern lithography at CTU MINERVE Orsay (in collaboration with P. Lecoeur, IEF-Orsay). This unique experimental set-up, realized during this PhD thesis will be working within a temperature range 2K-400K, in a 9T magnetic field, provided the platform from GEMaC NOVATECS. The Phd Courses transition between local and delocalized states of charge carriers will be studied versus temperature and versus magnetic field are different.

PhD Courses Position-Optimization of Numerical Simulation Software

This PhD Courses research topic is the numerical optimization method to the GPU hardware. Although applied to micromagnetic simulations, there is no special knowledge of physics or the magnet necessary. A public interest to numerical methods is needed though.

You will join the work on topics such as numerical techniques to solve a large system of coupled differential equations, fast summation techniques, fast Fourier transformation, etc. Both the underlying algorithms and their implementation on the CPU and GPU hardware should be optimized. A knowledge of C / C + + is required for the implementation of low-level GPU. Another part of the software is now written in C + + / Java / Python / Go and scripting language. They can be extended by modules written in high level programming language.

Postdoctoral Phd Courses Research in Computer Science

The Phd Courses hypothesis of this research project is the following:
Is it possible to modernize the electoral process while balancing the trust of the people on the trustworthiness of the deployed technology. In order to provide evidence in support of this hypothesis, we propose first to design a rigorous software engineering principle, which we call trust by design, that reproduces the trust-instilling elements of the conventional process in an electronic infrastructure. Second, together with our industry partners, we develop electronic election technology based on the trust by design principle. Third, together with the Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, and Aarhus municipalities, we empirically evaluate the technology in order to analyze the social, political and cultural implications inherent in digitally transforming the democratic process.

Postdoctoral candidates should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or Mathematics and an established research record in one or more of the following fields:

Phd Courses applied formal methodscryptographyelectronic voting systems (of primary importance)rigorous software engineeringtrust and trustworthinesslogic and semanticslogical frameworks and type theoryproof theory and higher-order theorem provingprogram verification

The Phd Courses positions are part of a larger effort to prove that it is possible to modernize the democratic process without losing the trust of the voters using epistemic logical framework technology and cryptographic methods, such as full homomorphic encryption. The research will be conducted under the supervision of Profs. Joseph Kiniry and Carsten Schürmann. A successful applicant will be hired initially for one year with the option to renew. The Phd Courses start date is flexible, but the position cannot be filled before 1 July, 2011. Candidates are also encouraged to explore research ideas on top of and beyond the project description. The positions provide significant opportunities for professional development.
