PhD Student within Experimental Electrocatalysis

We are currently looking for a post doctoral researcher and or a PhD-student to work in the field of electrocatalysis and experimental surface science at the Center for Individual Nanoparticle Functionality (CINF) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

Successful Candidates:

The successful candidate will have the responsibility for experiments on model electro-catalysts using instruments in relation to the CINF laboratories. The projects focus on reactivity of mass selected nanoparticles of pure and alloyed metals in relation to the Oxygen Reduction Reaction for use in PEMFC. Another part of the experiments is related to designing and developing new catalyst for oxygen and hydrogen evolution. The successful candidate is also expected to have an extended experience with the broad spectrum of analysis methods used in CINF including for example XPS, XRD and microscopy in general. UHV experience is an advantage but not a necessity.

Qualification Details:

Candidates for the PhD position should have a master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry or Engineering, while the post-doc candidates must have a PhD degree within similar fields.

Approval and enrolment of PhD Student:

College of Arts and Social Sciences Graduate School University of Aberdeen


The College of Arts and Social Sciences is actively expanding its portfolio of Masters programmes, many of them multi-disciplinary. At the postgraduate research level, the College aims to promote excellent research in all its disciplines and to provide a framework in which multi-disciplinary research can flourish.

The College offers a wide range of postgraduate opportunities at both Masters and Doctoral levels. Depending on the subjects studied, students can achieve an award of PhD, MPhil, MEd, MLitt, MRes, MTh, MSc, LLM, Diploma, Certificate or Masters of Business Administration (MBA). In addition to its October intake, the College is now offering programmes for February admission.

The programmes are delivered by staff who are experts in their field with related research interests which inform the development of the curriculum, thus providing a stimulating work environment for students.

A postdoctoral position is available in the Research Group for Theoretical Computer Science and Logic at the Institute of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics of the University of Bern (see http://www.iam.unibe.ch/~til/ for further information about the group). The successful candidate will join the research project “Structural Proof Theory and the Logic of Proofs.”
The position will be available from August 1, 2010 for a period of ten months. Requirements: a PhD in Computer Science or Mathematics with the emphasis on logic and/or theoretical computer science. Candidates with a background in Proof Theory and/or the Logic of Proofs will be given preference.
